Things heard that make my head spin, #3126:

D at the breakfast table just now: "You know what would be fun? Let's live in Worcester and take the commuter rail in to work each day. You always get the nice tables, 'cuz you're at the end of the line." (She sees me blogging this.) "Oh man..."

I've taken the train from Worcester and she's right. You can almost always get a table out here.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Commute! From! Hell!

I've been doing the Leominster to Belmont thing for 5 years now, and lemme tell ya, that's about 4 years too long. It was kind of fun for a little while. And then not so much.

Commuter rail cars are ALWAYS cold, too. Except when you want them to be. Makes sleeping uncomfortable.

Although if you really want to ride the commuter rail from almost the end of the line, our next-door neighbor is losing her second-floor tenants... she asked us to keep an eye out for "nice people who want an apartment." I can't think of many nicer.

Yeah, the commuter rail, after a weeknight rehearsal, during tech week. Yippeeee!

So, she thinks she's in for a rough ride from your F List then?

Unless you LOVE the city aspect but hate the prices in Boston, don't live in W-town!

I finally got out!

Having done a similar commute for oh-my-gods-too-long now....it's not all it's cracked up to be. I can think of so many better ways to spend four and a half hours each day.

Also, don't forget -- MBCR is plannning to seriously reduce evening service and eliminate weekend service. Because people who use the commuter rail don't deserve to get non-work-day service for their $250 a month.

Just sayin'.

I commuted that way from Sturbridge for a year and a half-- drive to Worcester, train to Boston.

It was not worth it.

I'm confoozlydoodled. What nice tables?

(And if you are seriously thinking of moving, I know a wonderful neighbourhood in Berlin, MA, just off 495 and 290. ;) )

I have no direct experience with this, but I'm told that somewhere on commuter rails there are nice worktables, comfortable seats, and maybe even unicorns.

Aw man, I've been looking for unicorns in ALL the wrong places.
