Jul. 2nd, 2003 09:07 amLast night was fight practice, with a lot of focus on working with Brian to get the giant axe vs. shield scene down. After about the fifth time through, an interesting thing started to happen: we started to be able to read each other, so that even when one of us made a mistake the other person was there to cover it. (Part of this is due to the extra time it takes to swing that axe, and part of it's due to just how damn good B is.)
It felt, actually, like one of those improv energy exercises, only instead of nodding and saying "zip" to someone you bellow and swing something heavy at them. It's the Kull the Conqueror improv comedy workshop.
By the *ninth* time we ran through it, with the crescent moon overhead, and the two of us backlit, and sparks flying every now and then when his axe hit one of the rivets in the shield...well, there was an extreme absence of suckiness. Highly extremely not-sucky.
