Last night I asked Dave if he'd given any thought to a part for me for 3M, and he'd forgotten I was going to be in it. Which was like an ego boost, only very much not.

Fortunately, though, I have raw undiluted panic to wash that away. I struck up a conversation Sunday with someone who's a clown and commedia artist, and she asked me, for reasons I still don't comprehend, if I was interested in doing a two-person commedia show with her. Interested, yes! I'm also interested in deciphering the Mayan hieroglyphs. Am I capable or qualified, at the moment? Ha ha ha ha....no.

So of course I said yes.

And the performance date? Ten days from now.

There needs to be a 'frelled' mood icon.

Commedia, which is short for commedia dell'arte, which is Italian for 'we don't know what the hell we're doing which is why we're shouting so loud', is a strange blend of improv, masked comedy, and scripted drama. There are a number of stock characters (the Old Man, the Servant, the Vain Soldier--Harlequin and Pierrot are the most famour); and a really really loose plot--you know the climax you eventually want to get to, and use the characters to improv your way to it, basically.

"Frelled" is a term from Farscape, the greatest TV show ever. It's "screwed", basically, but with the subtext that what's about to screw you is probably an alien species that may not have any idea what it's doing, and is probably poisonous.
