Depressed today.

Which might be the result of several nights of insufficient sleep, reading an amazingly depressing book (Black Hawk Down, and wow it's hard to avoid seeing certain parallels between Mogadishu and Iraq), and yesterday's Employee Evaluation and general job stress. Or just the fact that I'm an out-of-shape loser. Jury's still out.

I'm sorry to hear about the job stress. That's very much full of ick, as I well know. Also sorry to hear about the sleep, which sounds like the most likely culprit. Why aren't you sleeping? What can you do to fix the problem forthwith?

You may consider yourself throroughly shaken, and bitten on the ankle for the suggestion that you are an out-of-shape loser. This is clearly ridiculous. If you are any kind of loser, it must be a slapstick-faring, stage-battling loser, and that's not so bad, all things considered. :)

Let me recommend
Sleep, candy, sex and a funny movie in the VCR
Then, read a really depressing website.
Wallow in shameless depression and self pity until you laugh at yourself
Read a Larson cartoon book or Calvin and Hobbes.
By that point, time or your own self esteem will have returned from vacation :)

In the meantime;
*dancing at my desk waving empty diet coke bottles to Marc Anthony's "I need to know"

Well, you *should* be laughing ;-)

Hey, things could be worse - they could have turned Black Hawk Down into a game for the Xbox.

"Black Hawk Down: Shock and Awe"

I'm also out of shape. I keep doing these damn situps, then cramming my face full of popcorn. I'm sure I'm more out of shape than you are.

After turning the Afghanistan war into a roleplaying game, I think it's only a matter of time before we see Black Hawk Down: Mogadishin' Out Some Pain as a first-person shooter.

I'll take your popcorn and raise you an unhealthy interest in the homemade donut shop down the street! Or I would raise you, if I felt like lifting my arms that far...

Ughhh I am having one of those days too. I don't really know you at all (new to your lj) but I am sure you're not a loser (what does that even mean, anyway? It's all open to interpretation). I hope you feel better soon. Ditch that book for something happy and get a decent nights rest! (that always makes *such* a difference for me)

To lose or be lost, that is the question...

Whether it is nobler to deal with the unjust blather of the business world or to be afloat in a place of quietude.
One asks in a harsh way, how doth thy deal with losing yet another piece of one's soul to such uncaring leeches? Tis hard, watching teh scrads of one's life wither. Remember though, there is the warmth of purr, the joy of caring for small creatures that give love unconditionally. Purr-haps happiness can be found in a dream of a better day. Purr-haps an embrace of a friend's smile will lift you. Seek.... and you shall find solice.

Hey, you're fun. I'm depressed too. We're all depressed maybe. We were supposed to have a walking schedule together, what happened to that?

Buck up, Hoss!

Hey, oakenguy! Don't despair! Everyone seems to be hitting a little karmic dry spot today, yours truly included. (For this cheering post to have full effect, kindly disregard my last LJ post.)

Where were we? Oh, yeah. They don't appreciate you! They don't understand you! Sure, I don't know what you do for work and have never seen you treading water in the job pool, but I know this: what is your reward for a good review? Four percent? Six, if you're lucky?
Factor also in the tactic of using reviews to inspire better performance through negative reinforcement!
Factor also in the truth that the moment the job market picks back up, they'll be falling all over themselves to lavish praise and attention on you to keep you in their corner!
You feel bad because they want you to, man! Rise up against your soul's oppressors! Put the spring back in your step while you can still do so without Viagra!
Behind every cow there's always a silver lining!
It just doesn't matter, because at the end of the game the cheerleaders will still sleep with the other team!
It's not over! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

I didn't think so. Dammit.
