It's one of those times where my brain seems to be working on things while I'm asleep: I woke up at four thinking about my comic book script, with this idea on top of my head stuck like a post-it note:

What if you did this 'Arabian Nights' style? You've got a Big Bad for your arc, though you only hint about him in the first issue; it'd be entirely in character for him to capture one of your main characters and keep them alive only as long as they were interesting to him. Have each issue's main story be what your character's spinning for the Big Bad while trying to stay alive. It heightens the tension. And that way you can play with the format: stories-within-stories, different styles, odd digressions.

Oog. I can see problems. And I can't imagine a Big Two editor agreeing to it. And yet...and yet...

Well, OLD Vertigo might've done it. I've not the least clue what Vertigo *these* days is doing.
