Oct. 7th, 2003 12:56 pmThere was a seeing eye dog on the subway last night wearing a sign that read, "Do Not Feed or Flirt With Me". Which I thought was sad because, really, the dogs most likely to flirt with him can't read English.
I tried my first boba tea this lunchtime--it was milk honey tea with floating blue-black tapioca balls in it, for the record. It was every bit as nasty as I thought it would be, and now it feels like the boba ball is caught in the back of my throat. But they didn't taste like the oversized tadpole eggs they look like, so I still feel ahead of the game.

Date: 2003-10-07 10:26 am (UTC)Earl Gray or Irish breakfast, Oolong green or Arabic Almond. I am NOT open to new teas and you have beautifully described why.
*Scrunching face at desk in disgust*

3) I've thought since elementary school that tapioca balls look like frog's eggs, too.
4) The fact of number three never stopped me from thoroughly enjoying eating tapioca pudding. Yum....

And you've asked the question I have been quietly asking the universe since bubble teas (as we call them out here) caught on last year.
I completely don't get it. Then again, I'm an all-black, all-the-time tea drinker, who eschews froo-froo additions with the exception of Starbuck's chai.

Date: 2003-10-07 11:13 am (UTC)Here, here! (Or is it Hear, Hear!?) I'm an Earl Grey or English Breakfast girl myself. I only drink herbal teas when I'm sick, for the medicinal benefit.

Date: 2003-10-07 08:50 pm (UTC)I can't even drink them when I'm sick. Although, I'm having an exception foisted on me of ginger, lemon, and honey as a preventive tisane.
