Oct. 28th, 2003 09:51 amOh, the power we can wield.
I just got a call from the Registrar. Apparently a former student is now running for Mayor in a city about an hour south of here. It's a tight race. His opposition called us just to double-check on his claim that he graduated from here.
No problem....except that as far as we can tell he didn't actually graduate. He got incompletes in his last two private lessons, never made them up, they turned into F's, buh-bye.
But we *have* had two complete changes in our record-keeping system since '91, his last year here. So there's a slim, tiny, eetsy-beetsy chance that he's telling the truth when he says he made those classes up. 1 in 30, but still, it's enough to give the Registrar nightmares when she thinks about telling the press, who've also been calling, that the candidate's definitely a liar and then having him dig his old diploma out of the attic.
In other news, just when we think MIT has a monopoly on turning movies into musicals, along comes: http://wvvw.evildeadthemusical.com/
