Okay, let me set the scene: it's the back page of the free daily paper. On it is a full page ad taken up mostly with the head of a woman, up to her nose in water, with her forehead smeared with about nine different shades of bronze and gold makeup. There's also a little smoosh of blue paint above her right eyebrow, like she had a toothpaste accident.

But that's not the odd part.

The odd part is the ad copy. I quote: YOU ARE THE TANTRESS, M.A.C. IS YOUR SUN-SHRINE

"Tantress"?

Clearly, the folks at M.A.C. have been sniffing the metallic eyeshadows...

Whoops! Sounds like the ad-writers made a little leap beyond the average public, there. Too many word puzzles, too wierd of an image to go with it. I'm assuming they meant some sort of tantric temptress and both the happiness of sunshine and the bad-assedness of being a goddess/diva (the shrine part), but all put together it sounds confusing.

Maybe "tan" and "panther" and "express"?

Is she supposed to put lipstick on her eyelids? Is there some new fashion thing I'm behind on?

Ah, the word combination appears to be Tantalize and Temptress.
If I were M.A.C. I'd fire these people;
She has the equivalent of a bronze unibrow, which I can safely say does NOT make me think her Tantalizing.
And although naturally I find any woman who accidentally paints her face with her blue nail polish to be a stimulating intellectual, I much prefer those who look like Toucan Sam shat on their face.
Yes, I am definitely inspired to stick with Maybelline.

Oh, my gosh. I guess my love comes cheap, 'cause I think I would worship at the feet of anyone who showed up in my life with Those Eyes! :)

Ah, I was thinking it was derivative of the word Tantric. Like a Tantric Goddess, Tantress.

yes that would have made sense too. I got the other from the ad text...there is still no explanation for sun shrine though! :)
